Quilting for the Absolute Beginner

This is an introductory class. Perfect for the absolute beginner who wants to learn new skills to create a lasting and beautiful quilt.

During this class you will learn:

  • How to operate and clean your machine  
  • How to follow a pattern
  • How to cut out the fabric according to your pattern
  • How to use a ruler, rotary cutter, and cutting mat

The class fee is for ALL four sessions. A non-refundable class fee is due upon registration and will hold your spot. Class size is limited to six students to ensure safe physical distancing. Masks are required when moving around the classroom or in the store. When you are sitting at your sewing machine, you are welcome to take it off. 

In the event, The Fabric Shop needs to cancel the class we will issue a refund. 

The Fabric Shop respects copyright laws. Patterns or books may be required for some classes.
Class supplies are eligible for a 10% discount.

Skill Level: beginner
Skill Details: Basic sewing skills. Basic knowledge of machine: able to thread your machine, wind a bobbin, able to adjust tension. You have heard about quilting; you may even know some of the lingo and want to learn what all the buzz is about!
Requirements: Other items to bring: ● Machine in good working order ●Tools and manual for your machine ● Bobbins ● Spare machine needles ● Thread to match your project ● Scissors (Fabric and paper) ● Seam Ripper ● Rotary cutter (with a new blade) ●Ruler (6 x 24) ●Pins and pincushion ●Measuring tape ●Needles for hand sewing ● Pencil and paper to take notes ● Small iron and ironing pad (optional) Cutting mats and ironing stations are provided for in-class use.
